ABOUT RED COSMOS AVIATION

Practical engineering. Purpose-built simulation.

Red Cosmos Aviation is a UK-based specialist in the research, development and manufacture of aviation simulator technologies. We bring together physical hardware, digital design and practical fabrication to develop systems for commercial and entertainment applications.

A manufacturer first

Our starting point is the equipment: how it is constructed, how people interact with it and how it can be maintained once installed. A convincing simulated flight depends on more than a visual scene. Seats, controls, switches, panels, connections and supporting structures all contribute to the experience.

We work across that physical environment, from complete simulator installations to experimental cockpit interfaces. The project photographs throughout this website show examples of the hardware we have developed and integrated, alongside the earlier prototypes that helped shape it.

Solving the less visible problems

Simulator projects are often judged by what a participant sees. We also look at what happens behind the panel and underneath the platform. Can a technician reach the electronics? Can a failed module be removed without disturbing the cockpit? Does an installation leave enough space for servicing, rather than simply fitting into a room?

These questions inform our development priorities: initial affordability, manageable running costs, service access, compact installation and practical opportunities for repair. They are design objectives, not a promise that every configuration will deliver the same results.

A portfolio built through development

Our work includes an enclosed 737-800 NG simulator, a dual-station virtual-reality fighter simulation installation, forward-overhead interface prototypes and early pedestal assemblies. We have also repurposed aircraft seating and reupholstered it through our in-house team.

Each project has a different purpose. The overhead programme explores access to supporting electronics. The VR installation combines motion hardware, physical controls and shared virtual environments. The 737 build brings a recognisable flight deck and cabin setting together as a complete physical installation.

Looking ahead without losing sight of the workshop

We aim to anticipate what operators and experience providers will need as technology and budgets change. That means considering future use, space and support requirements before committing to a particular hardware layout. It also means testing ideas in an economical form before specifying the finished product.

Our approach combines CAD/CAM, three-dimensional modelling, physical prototyping and hands-on assembly. A low-cost development model can reveal a poor fit or an awkward maintenance task while it is still straightforward to make a change.

Clear information about our work

We distinguish completed installations from experimental and early-stage components. Photographs labelled as prototypes are evidence of development work, not representations of a current off-the-shelf catalogue. Generated simulation illustrations are identified separately from the original product photography.

The simulators described here are non-accredited. We do not claim official endorsement, approval or training credit. Any proposed application, equipment specification and support arrangement should be agreed for the individual project.

Start with the problem you need to solve

An enquiry does not need to arrive as a complete technical specification. Tell us what the equipment should enable, who will use it, where it needs to fit and what makes the existing approach difficult or expensive. A clear description of the constraints is often a more useful starting point than a list of preferred components.
